• Aldi have announced 10% bonus for staff in their stores and distribution centres
• The company have donated almost half a million surplus Easter eggs to charity

I spoke to a source who said:

• Aldi is not participating in the gov furlough scheme.
• One of Aldi’s employees has been told they are unable to be furloughed or be paid sickness pay, despite being advised to shield themselves by their GP due to their child. Their child is undergoing treatment for an illness and is classed as extremely vulnerable by the government.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “Any colleague who is clinically extremely vulnerable should not come to work, and will be fully paid until it is safe for them to return. The latest government advice states that those living with an extremely vulnerable person do not need to shield themselves, however we will review any such situations on a case-by-case basis.”

• A Labour MP, Siobhain McDonagh, tweeted about a very similar issue, though this could be the same as above.

Asda recently announced that they will:

• Pay staff who need to self-isolate for 12 weeks
• Suspend rents for the small businesses within their stores

Plus:

• Staff will get an extra week's pay as a bonus in June
• Asda has donated £5 million to food banks
• Announced that they will only pay for part their clothing orders

Co-op Food is a network of separate societies, the points below may not apply to all stores/organisations.

• Staff who work in stores get a 15% bonus
• Staff are fully paid if they need to self isolate
• Any staff who are furloughed will be paid in full
• It has scrapped next year's shareholder payout

• Donating £10 million worth of food to food banks across the UK
• All staff receive sick pay if they are sick with Coronavirus
• Colleagues who are affected either because of self isolation, or by playing their part in looking after close family members or the vulnerable in their local community, will also be eligible for sick pay, alternative shifts or holiday
• Staff will get increased bonuses of up to £1,050 this year
• Offer a 10% discount for NHS staff
• Offer a free hot drink for NHS staff
• Have a 'More for NHS club' offering extra thank you discounts and freebies

• Sainsbury's are paying a 10% bonus to all permanent hourly paid staff in Sainsbury's and Argos
• But, Sainsbury's own Argos, and are using a 'loophole' to keep 300 in-store branches open

• ‍Tesco announced on 21 March: staff will get a 10% bonus, which is backdated from the 9 March, and runs until the 9 May.
• ‍12 weeks' paid leave for vulnerable staff
• Tesco Mobile have donated 150 smartphones to families in need
• The company has donated £15,000,000 worth of food to food banks in South London

On 22 March, the John Lewis Partnership announced:

• All Waitrose shops will protect batches of ‘hard to find’ and essential stock exclusively for NHS workers to ensure they can access basic shopping items
• NHS staff will receive priority checkout treatment in all Waitrose supermarkets
• John Lewis is donating comfort items such as pillows, phone chargers, eye masks and hand cream, as well as 50,000 Easter treats, to hospitals
• Staff in Waitrose and John Lewis are being offered free meals at work

Plus:

• Discounts for staff have been increased to 25% during Coronavirus
• Staff were being told to make up any time they've taken off, though Waitrose quickly u-turned and said that was the wrong thing to do.
